Moon over Miami

February 8 & 9, 2020

Well, OK, not really over Miami—we were on the Space Coast when we took these photos—but a beautiful moon, none-the-less!

A supermoon is a full moon within 90% of its closest approach to Earth in a given orbit.  A supermoon always appears larger and brighter than normal because the moon is closer than normal.

There will be 3 more supermoons in 2020:

March 9, 2020

April 8, 2020

May 7, 2020

This is the fourth closest (therefor the fourth largest and brightest) of the 13 full moons in 2020.

Did you know that every month’s full moon has a name?  The February full moon is called a Snow Moon because February is considered the snowiest month of the year.  So says the National Weather Service!

  1. We admired it from our deck here in Pennsylvania. It’s a good thing we did, for the clouds came in for the next few days…
