We arrived in Maputo on a grey, overcast morning.  The pall remained as we waited and waited for the immigration folks to conduct their required passport inspection.  Finally, the passports were stamped and we were released to board our tours!  It was a relatively short drive to the South Africa border where the transfer out of Mozambique and entry into South Africa went smoothly.  We continued to Kruger National Park and the Lion Sands Narina Lodge for an exciting 4-day safari adventure!

This is the first installment and covers our arrival at the resort.  The photos will tell the story.

From the ship, this looks like an interesting town. We never got to see it as we boarded a bus and took off for Kruger National Park in South Africa for a 4 day safari adventure!

Cape Buffalo seen in the Sabie River from the Lion Sands Narina Lodge! There is a Big 5 list of animals to photograph: lion, leopard, elephant, giraffe and buffalo. We managed to see 3 of the 5 before we even checked into the Lodge!

Ahhh…..arrival at the Lion Sands Narina Lodge. But no time to rest. The first safari drive will depart soon and we must drop off our bags in the cottage, enjoy a welcome drink, and meet the staff, guides and trackers. This is shaping up to be busy!

The safari continues.  More to come!
