Yesterday, August 9, 2023, a huge and devastating fire destroyed the beautiful city of Lahaina, Maui. The clean-up, rebuild, and community restoration will be an immense endeavor. Please offer them your thoughts, prayers, well wishes. They have a long and arduous project ahead.
And remember the beauty, history, and charm of the city:

Thank you, Alexah, good to hear from you!!! It’s ironic, that we are scheduled to depart on another cruise in January and were looking forward to stopping in Lahaina. Don’t imagine that will happen now!!! This is such a tragedy: Lahaina was so very charming. But, I’m sure the conversations about rebuilding are already underway!!!
Thanks for posting such lovely photos. We will remember Lahaina so well as it was our favourite when cruising Hawaii, a pretty, interesting port and such welcoming people. This is such a tragedy for the residents but I hope the rebuilding goes ahead full steam.
Hi Patricia,
The people of Hawaii are strong and resilient. No doubt, they will rebuild another charming and beautiful city!!!
But this is just too sad for words.
Good to hear from you, Couv!!! It’s hot here in Florida, too. But we have become true Floridians and manage the heat wave by living in AC (from house to car to destination) and limiting outdoor activities to seaside recreation (al fresco dining at Florida’s wonderful over water restaurants with the fabulous sea breezes)!!! Give us a heads-up when you’re out this way!!!
Such a tragedy, but thank you for sharing these wonderful memories
